Tackling disease is a big challenge for humans, and this has been the case throughout our history. Dr Sam Bizley from the University of Reading’s School of Pharmacy takes you on a whistle-stop tour of pharmacy through the ages – from crushing plants up in ancient Mesopotamia, to the invention of the first tablet press in the 19th century. Learn how our amazing knowledge of medicine has developed over time, and find out more about the different roles of pharmacists in the past as well as the modern day.

This taster session links to topics in the GCSE Science curriculum on treating disease and developing medicine, and builds on general historical knowledge of ancient civilisations.
