Real World Lectures, Is Prison an Effective Form of Punishment?
Students will enhance their learning in criminology and criminological viewpoints as well as their understanding of what a prison sentence can consist of. We will focus on what a prison imprisonment consist of and arguments that highlight effectiveness and ineffectiveness of prison as a punishment. We will conclude by hearing examples of the ways in which prisoners themselves have viewed their imprisonment as either effective or ineffective. This virtual lecture is run by Criminology tutor, Angela Charles, who specialises in prison effectiveness and treatment of black female prisoners. It is aimed at students studying A Level/BTEC and those interested in studying Criminology, Policing or Law at University.
