What happened at the COP and what does it mean for the world?
The UK is hosting COP26, where it seeks to unite the world to tackle climate change.
Will we see meaningful renewed commitments to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement? Or will it be more ‘blah, blah, blah’ from our ‘so-called leaders’, as Greta Thunberg said at the Pre-COP Youth4Climate conference.
Dr Wassim Dbouk, Marine and Maritime Policy Research Fellow and member of the Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Cohort, will join us live from COP26 to report what has been happening. Fatima Ali, Sustainability Officer for University of Southampton Students’ Union and final year BSc Geography student, will offer reflections from being at the first week of COP.
Ian Williams, Professor of Applied Environmental Science, and Simon Kemp, Professorial Fellow in Education for Sustainable Development, will join the discussion and then respond to questions from the audience.
Dr Tony Curran, Senior Public Engagement Fellow and Environmental Science Communicator, will chair the event.
