The Courtauld Institute of Art is a World-famous Centre for the Study of Art History, Conservation and Curating, and Home to a Major Art Collection.
The Courtauld brings together all aspects of the study of the visual arts into one place. We are home to the largest group of art historians in the UK, covering a wide range of specialisms and working on an increasingly global scale.
At undergraduate level we teach a single specialist subject, BA History of Art. Our small class sizes create an inspiring atmosphere where can explore those subject matters that most interest you, and where you will develop knowledge, friends and contacts for life. Although small in number, our alumni form a global community of world-leading specialists.
Our lively research culture attracts some of the leading figures in Art History from around the world to give lectures and seminars at The Courtauld, with all of our students encourage to join in these debates.
Since January 2019, we have been housed at Vernon Square, located in King’s Cross, London, while our permanent home at Somerset House is being renovated. The first stage of our reopening – the transformed Courtauld Gallery – is planned for 2021.
Our Kings Cross location places us in walking distance of 13 extraordinary museums, including the British Library, the British Museum and The National Gallery.
